My twin sister Allison and I visit our best friend Anneliese of 35 years every summer who lives in DC. We love exploring the history of the city and especially love visiting Mt. Vernon! Last summer we did the Book of Secrets tour, which was pretty cool to see spots most visitors don’t get to go!! We love the beauty of the grounds and walking the paths filled with history! Fireworks at Mount Vernon - Independence Day and Christmas - have become an important family tradition. My two boys especially love walking the grounds at night and sitting under the stars along the Potomac. Here, 2 year old Ronan, is gazing in wonder at the fireworks illuminating the sky. this was our second trip to Mount Vernon. The first time it was just my husband and I. This time was with my teenagers. I love it so much and my husband knows it. There is something that draws me there. So it's tough living in Missouri. Pamela Beste, 2019

Mount Vernon had an event with horses and hounds. It was a beautiful sunny day. Loved the event. I grew up near Mount Vernon and even rode my horse on the property back in the late 60's

Ssgt James Burton Moore and Gemma Rose are featured in this photo. Gemma at the time was in school for her Masters in Library Information Science and majored in archiving. She asked James if he would take her there because she wanted to use the new AI Mount Vernon just launched the week prior. Sadly due to poor weather they were unable to use the new technology. But even in the freezing rain they both still had a wonderful time touring the house and talking with docents. Gemma Rose, 2019

Visited on Christmas Eve 2018. Less crowded and the tour of the mansion was relaxed and enjoyable. Always enjoy Aladdin at Christmastime!! Edward Douglas, 2018

We regularly visit Mount Vernon and are so appreciative of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association and all that they have done, and are doing, to preserve, restore, and manage the estate. It's difficult to choose our favorite time of the year to visit, but our daughter especially loves to visit during the Christmas season so she can see Aladdin the camel. Here is a photo of her with her two Aladdins! Ken Rodriguez, 2018

My selfie from July 4th, 2018. I was on a 2 week road trip with a friend from middle school and her two young daughters. This was my fourth time to visit the estate, but it was their first visit. We visited DC over the July 4th holiday. We spent the day at Mount Vernon and I was able to watch a naturalization ceremony for new US citizens. It was really special to see all of those people so excited to become American citizens. One man was smiling from ear to ear as he was welcomed by a young couple. I remember thinking that George would probably be proud that this was happening at his estate. Kristin Reedy, 2018
