Each year in April since 2007 I’ve taken a group of Safety Patrol students to Mount Vernon. This was our first year to miss. Whitney Ward, 2019

Ssgt James Burton Moore and Gemma Rose are featured in this photo. Gemma at the time was in school for her Masters in Library Information Science and majored in archiving. She asked James if he would take her there because she wanted to use the new AI Mount Vernon just launched the week prior. Sadly due to poor weather they were unable to use the new technology. But even in the freezing rain they both still had a wonderful time touring the house and talking with docents. Gemma Rose, 2019

In 2017 my 2 kids were living in NC with their dad and it was a big change for all of us. Their step dad Ron and I flew out there, picked them up in a rented car and spent a great spring break in DC. The tornado hit the tidal basin the night we arrived! The icing on our trip cake was visiting Mount Vernon. We wanted to understand Washington better and see what captivated his heart the way Mt Vernon did. Laura Dalrymple, 2017

We were at Mt. Vernon on Feb.12, 2020. We retired in Oct. of 2019, and hit the road to historical sites. We loved Mount Vernon. Your wonderful fifer played Nothing Could Be Finer than to be in Carolina when he found out we were from S.C. We loved the restaurant you have. We actually ate there two evenings. My husband is in the picture. Your museum is awesome!

Mount Vernon had an event with horses and hounds. It was a beautiful sunny day. Loved the event. I grew up near Mount Vernon and even rode my horse on the property back in the late 60's

This is my father, my father's brother, and my older son visiting along with my husband, younger son, mother, and mother's brother. Both uncles coincidentally happened to be in the DC area, even though one lived in L.A. and the other in New York, and we decided to take the kids to Mount Vernon to see the mansion and the animals, which they loved! On October 25, 2015, our family went trick-or-treating at Mount Vernon. The estate is absolutely beautiful in the fall and we had a wonderful time taking a wagon ride, visiting the outbuildings, meeting Lady Washington, and playing on the lawn. These are my daughters, Daphne Taylor, who was seven at the time and dressed as Ben Gunn from "Treasure Island", and Vivian Taylor, who was six and dressed as Mavis Dracula from "Hotel Transylvania."
