This is my father, my father's brother, and my older son visiting along with my husband, younger son, mother, and mother's brother. Both uncles coincidentally happened to be in the DC area, even though one lived in L.A. and the other in New York, and we decided to take the kids to Mount Vernon to see the mansion and the animals, which they loved! I play 18th century music in the Itinerant Band and we have provided music to Mount Vernon for over twenty years. This picture was taken in September of 2011 while we were playing for the Market Fair. This is the same metal bench my mother, Helen Clark, sat on as a ten year old girl in a visit to Mount Vernon on Labor Day weekend in 1939. I had my picture taken standing next to it as a connection to her visit decades ago. She is 91 now and remembers in great detail her visit to the mansion, the gardens and the kitchen. I am sending this picture in case you wanted to put this together with the picture of her from 1939. Bob Clark, 2011

My husband and I are blessed to have 21 grandchildren. We decided when the first three grandchildren Alli, Jake and Ben became teens in 2013, we'd take them to visit the Washington D. C. area. We chose Memorial week-end since it was the beginning of summer and many patriotic activities took place in D.C. We saved the final day of our trip to visit Mt. Vernon, which they agreed was their favorite. Since we had so much fun we returned in 2015 with three new teens - Luke, Anna, and Elizabeth. Before returning to St. Louis we again enjoyed a great day at Mt. Vernon. Two years later on Memorial week-end 2017 we returned with three new teens - Mark, Will, and Grace. Each time we returned to Mt. Vernon we learned more as tours changed or improved. We planned to take three more grands this year, but due to Covid-19 we are holding back, yet hope by the 4th of July 2000, it will be a healthier safer country and we can return to Washington D.C. and Mt. Vernon with Adaeze, Sophia, and Jack. Jenni Loynd, 2013

On July 4th, our daughter Hayley was invited by the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) to deliver a public address on the grounds of Mount Vernon. That year, Hayley was the national winner of the SAR's Joseph Rumbaugh Oratory contest, and she reprised her winning oration on "freedom of speech" prior to a ceremonial visit to General Washington's tomb. We were invited as a family to join the earlier procession down the front lawn of Mount Vernon, in company with other descendants of Revolutionary War patriots. The photo was taken during that procession. Ernest Snowden, 2014

On October 25, 2015, our family went trick-or-treating at Mount Vernon. The estate is absolutely beautiful in the fall and we had a wonderful time taking a wagon ride, visiting the outbuildings, meeting Lady Washington, and playing on the lawn. These are my daughters, Daphne Taylor, who was seven at the time and dressed as Ben Gunn from "Treasure Island", and Vivian Taylor, who was six and dressed as Mavis Dracula from "Hotel Transylvania." We were at Mt. Vernon on Feb.12, 2020. We retired in Oct. of 2019, and hit the road to historical sites. We loved Mount Vernon. Your wonderful fifer played Nothing Could Be Finer than to be in Carolina when he found out we were from S.C. We loved the restaurant you have. We actually ate there two evenings. My husband is in the picture. Your museum is awesome!

My brother and his family were visiting my mom over Christmas. I suggested we go to Mount Vernon (I'm the picture taker!). It was a beautiful sunny day and we enjoyed meeting Aladdin the camel and viewing the mansion decorations. Mount Vernon is lovely to visit in any season. Margo Cunniffe, 2016

I had a spare day to spend on a trip to Northern Virginia for my cousin's wedding. I chose to spend it with one of my favorite people of all time, George Washington. Joel Sawyer, 2017

Attending a Teacher Fellowship (a remarkable opportunity in itself), I got to spend the evenings on the property. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity was sipping Madeira on the back porch overlooking the Potomac! Never forget this! Kenneth Blum, 2017
