Our kids, Tatum and Knox, in colonial costumes at Halloween trick or treating at Mt Vernon. We live 2 miles away on the old Muddy Hole Farm and adore getting to Mt Vernon.

In 2017 my 2 kids were living in NC with their dad and it was a big change for all of us. Their step dad Ron and I flew out there, picked them up in a rented car and spent a great spring break in DC. The tornado hit the tidal basin the night we arrived! The icing on our trip cake was visiting Mount Vernon. We wanted to understand Washington better and see what captivated his heart the way Mt Vernon did. Laura Dalrymple, 2017
Gemma Rose
Ssgt James Burton Moore and Gemma Rose are featured in this photo. Gemma at the time was in school for her Masters in Library Information Science and majored in archiving. She asked James if he would take her there because she wanted to use the new AI Mount Vernon just launched the week prior. Sadly due to poor weather they were unable to use the new technology. But even in the freezing rain they both still had a wonderful time touring the house and talking with docents. Gemma Rose, 2019

My twin sister Allison and I visit our best friend Anneliese of 35 years every summer who lives in DC. We love exploring the history of the city and especially love visiting Mt. Vernon! Last summer we did the Book of Secrets tour, which was pretty cool to see spots most visitors don’t get to go!! We love the beauty of the grounds and walking the paths filled with history! Attending a Teacher Fellowship (a remarkable opportunity in itself), I got to spend the evenings on the property. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity was sipping Madeira on the back porch overlooking the Potomac! Never forget this! Kenneth Blum, 2017
