One of the first things we did when we moved to the area last summer was head to Mount Vernon. It was an extremely hot and humid day, so the kids enjoyed the break on the back patio chairs overlooking the Potomac. Megan Walterscheid, 2019To celebrate the 4th of July in 2019, we decided to head to Mount Vernon to see the daytime fireworks. Our son was still too young to stay up for evening fireworks, so Mount Vernon was the perfect option for us! We had a slice of the birthday cake, explored the grounds, and enjoyed the show from the mansion's lawn.
